Garden Club gives $30,000 in scholarships

  • PHOTO COURTESY OF JOAN PIPER -- Venice Area Garden Club recently announced its 2016 scholarship recipients: Jessica Taylor, left, Andrew Sampson, Zachary Reintsema, Shelby Duquette, Delaney Cohen, Tag Sufferling, Virginia Cook, and Brandon Stevens. This year, $30,000 was awarded to Venice High School seniors and recent graduates. This club, with just over 100 members, has given $174,000 in scholarships over the past 33 years. Club members appreciate the Venice community for supporting its annual Home Tour -- its only fundraiser. The 2017 Home Tour will be March 10 and 11.
